DescriptionThe Central Oculus Courtyard.
The oculus in the centre of the building was “The Sky “ element within the proposal to allow for connection of the site through the view above and the ground below to create an experience within the space. The aim was to create a space that offers rest and a space to appreciate the landscape. A central monolithic atrium is formed by the dictation of the openings above, allowing a simple space to exist and for an atmospheric quality of intimacy to be created internally.
“I wanted the space to feel like a conversation between the floor-plan and the site that was so all encompassing it loomed over the building. Within this courtyard you feel the entirety of the site but also have an experience within the space that is intimate and almost paused in time.”
