Give and Take

Date: 2021
Artist: Lisa-Marie Harris (Trinidadian)
Dimensions:
59 x 58 x 10cm each
Medium: Archival leather, steel, lacquer, calabash gourd
Object number: UAC 1036
DescriptionLisa-Marie studied MA Contemporary Photography; Practices and Philosophies at Central Saint Martins. A contemporary artist from Trinidad & Tobago based in London, her hybrid process investigates the idea of body as object. It considers the absence of bodies alongside a breaking-apart and putting-together of form. Reproduction, lineage, and personal histories inform her work, with the body viewed as a thing to rearrange, depart and remove as notions around how we dehumanise, machine, assimilate, and commoditise the body are examined, and reconstituted.
