DescriptionBritten studied MA Contemporary Photography; Practices and Philosophies at Central Saint Martins. He produces mixed-media social research through exploring ethnographical issues and challenging photographic practice. Often, his approach towards explaining the ineffable subliminally emerges in the absurd. The Readymade Player image series charts London’s fenced playgrounds; landmarks visible during the pandemic. These images embody the research exploration of a work/play dichotomy; where the fences and play object collide in ambivalence. Britten questions if the fencers themselves can be viewed as playing adults through their constraining of play equipment — to then categorise this new play typology as one that produces what can be encountered artistically as an assisted-readymade.
