'This textile is constructed by shredding and stitching together layers of waste fabrics. A base of waste wool is heat pressed and fused onto interfacing. Shredded denim shaped into scattered arrangements and contrasting black circles form the basis of this textile. Small squares made from yarn and polyester hover above these elements. The textile depicts the unruly carnage humans leave behind in their daily trails of unrelenting consumption. The visual meandering arrangements and contrasting shapes in denim, cotton, and polyester, through these material’s vast cultural and historical connotations spotlight the literal carnage our ravenous pursuit of material goods leaves on our environments. This textile is likened to the organised mess that are mountains of obsolete materials found at a material recycling facilities.'
