DescriptionKaterina studied BA Illustration and Visual Media at London College of Communication. Her artist's statement says that 'She draws, paints, cries and designs 3D things. Nurturing a love for new worlds that aren’t controlled by the patriarchy and phallogocentric thought, she creates illustrations where womxn live and do as they please. She believes in educating through illustration, particularly representation of all races and intersectional feminism. Her work is underpinned by ancient matriarchal societies, symbolism, her Cypriot heritage and female surrealist artists.
'Radiant Rooms' is a surreal multi-storey hotel representing the multidimensional nature of wxmen. A new world where gender binary constrictions don’t dictate people’s lives. The characters interact with various objects and symbols which allow them to create their own narratives. Is it emotional? Is it rational? This world, that has not yet been, thrives on ambiguity and welcomes androgyny, intersectionality, feminism and representation, ultimately demonstrating there is not one way to be a womxn.'
