''Fracture' draws its iconography from images by 16th and 17th century artists including Mazza, Pannini, Grimaldi, Spadaro, Turchi and Tempesta. By modifying, mutating and recombining these images it creates an image steeped in history and an atmosphere of nostalgia. But it is also an expression of a history that is in a state of constant decay. Half-remembered depictions of the ruins of antiquity collapse over religious symbolism, whose meaning has been eroded by time and the very physical corruption of the paper surface.'
