DescriptionSabherwal studied BA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts. This painting was inspired by Hindu mythology or arguably the historical story of Kali Maa: a goddess sent to kill an invincible demon by sucking his blood. Originally a ferocious tale, Sabherwal's goddess and demon have been depicted as lovers gazing into each other’s eyes: a transition between love and death. The colour of the figures' skin allude to social connotations attached to race, colour and gender.
