DescriptionBaker studied BA Fine Art: Painting at Wimbledon College of Arts. His eerie scenes subvert the original purpose of vintage sports team photography, i.e. the celebration of masculine physical achievement. Baker accentuates homoerotic undertones, slightly mocking heteronormative masculinity and 'queering' the perception of the image. He highlights the performative nature of life, the dark realities of our gendered existence and how we react to the human condition and our own fragile sense of self.
