This print depicts the legendary military commander figure of Kajiwara Kagetoki(梶原景時) from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura era. Kajiwara Kagetoki (梶原景時) was a powerful immediate vassal of the Kamakura shogunate. He was also known for his culture and love of waka (和歌, a traditional Japanese poem of thirty-one syllables). He wielded power in the Kamakura shogunate as Yoritomo's favourite vassal but was exiled and exterminated along with his family after Yoritomo's death.
