DescriptionJacqueline Ennis-Cole studied MA Drawing at Wimbledon College of Arts. She says this work:
'Represents people living with Albinism in Tanzania who are vulnerable to unpredictable episodes of violence in the form of amputations of body parts and violent death. It was driven and motivated by an art residency that I facilitated with a rural community living with albinism. The location was on an island in Lake Victoria. The polaroid imagery that I selected for public presentation happened to be of the moments I experienced as surreal. The polaroid photographs were reproduced with the aid of a digital camera and printed on to an aluminium Dibond surface. The aluminium metal held a physical presence on the island and was visible as material culture. The Albino Mask is a performative found object piece that embodies the context of the work.'
