DescriptionThe figure of St.Helena is seen standing (upon rocks) before the discovered Cross in green robes and a red/orange cloak.
Manuscript fragment, mounted on flimsy discoloured paper. Related to F.39 (probably from the same book/manuscript). Unusually this fragment has actually been cut to shape. It may have been part of a large historiated major initial (probably from a monastic choir book) and is probably related in some way to F.37 (as well as F.39); the stylistic tendencies in treating the human form (particularly the facial features) are very similar and seem to suggets Bologna as the original place of production.
