DescriptionGod, the Virgin Mary, Saints, Angels and large Sun. Verso - latin text and rubrics, initial "O", Rinceaux style illumination. Page of Latin text in irregular Gothic script in ink on parchment. Illumination of God and the Virgin, tiers of saints and angels above, surrounded by roundels containing heads of haloed saints in pairs; illuminated capital 'O' on verso.
This page is from a small book, probably a Book of Hours. Stylistically (particularly with the Rinceaux style decoration) this could be from a manuscript produced by the workshop of the Boucicaut Master. However, he did have a profound effect on other French workshops so this particular example may have been made by one of his circle, or one of his followers. [The Boucicaut Master is known to have worked between 1405 and 1420.]
