DescriptionIkkyu Soujun (一休宗純) is an actual historical figure from the Muromachi period. He is a Buddhist monk of the Rinzai sect (臨済宗). He is known for his eccentric behaviour, which is not typical of a Buddhist monk, and various stories have been left about him. These behaviours were based on Zen doctrine, but his various tales became popular during the Edo period.
