DescriptionPina studied BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. This piece depicts a traditional doll from Northern Portugal, however the artist wishes to evoke a sense of universality, paralleling dolls from Eastern Europe or even Asian manga dolls. The subject stands as a metaphor for folk, i.e. people. Placed in an ambiguous space, the doll is caught between tradition and contemporaneity, its unbalance lingering.
