DescriptionA scene from a play titled 'Sarumawashi Kadode no Hitofushi (猿廻門出の一諷)' performed at the Nakamura Theatre from the 22nd day of the 8th month, 1856.

During the Edo period, there were sarumawashi (猿回し), entertainers who had monkeys perform tricks in many places. In this story, the sarumawashi Yojiro (与次郎) appears as the brother of the main character, a courtesan, and is portrayed as a filial son of a blind mother whom he helps.
