DescriptionSam studied BA Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Arts. They say:
'Games, structure, and systems of knowledge inform my work. I try to represent the world, an attempt that will end in failure. I'm not interested in the representation of one idea into many pieces, but multiple things and multiple pieces. These things can then be placed together to form a plurality of meanings rather than just one autonomous meaning.
My work can be described as spiritual, and a bit cultish, but I believe in more than just a simple spiritual reading of the work. My practice deals with metaphysical concerns, but I also intend my work to be a rejection of these concerns. I believe that history has been left in a kind of desolation by the death of the meta-narrative, so although our spiritual concerns are now void, the remnants of the search for meaning and truth leaves a lot of gaps to play with. These gaps are the foundations of my work.
The piece is a found book page worked on with gouache and graphite to produce an arbitrary star field. The work is based on a quote within Foucault's 'The Order of Things'.'
