DescriptionSmith (1984-2016) studied BA Graphic and Media Design at London College of Communication and MA Illustration at Central Saint Martins. His work is inspired by Shelley’s 1820 poem, 'The Mask of Anarchy’, which relates to the death of ten peaceful protestors and the injuries inflicted on hundreds more when the local yeomanry ruthlessly suppressed a mass demonstration in favour of parliamentary reform at Manchester’s St Peters Field on 16 August 1819 – the famous 'Peterloo Massacre'.
