DescriptionThis print depicts people enjoying Shiohigari (潮干狩り, the ebb and flow of the tide). The third day of the third month of the lunar calendar (Joshi no Sekku,上巳の節句) was the day of high tide, and people in Edo start of ebb and flow harvesting on this day. Shellfish gathered on that day were usually cooked for the celebration of the healthy growth of girls on Joshi-no-Sekku.
